20+ Bank Gothic Fonts: A Final Collection
Bank Gothic font was created by an American typeface designer in 1930, Morris Fuller Benton. Mergenthaler Linotype Company, a newspaper typesetting equipment manufacturers created a digital version of Bank Gothic typeface in which they mapped small caps characters onto the keyboard’s lowercase keys.
Morris Benton’s version of Bank Gothic lacked a true set of lowercase characters – until Michael Doret started working on Deluxe Gothic in 2003. The Doret’s version is available in both a condensed set of fonts and in a regular set as well.
Another extended and revised version of Bank Gothic font, Morris Sans family, was created by Dan Reynolds in 2005. In this version, some letters were redesigned including Ç, Ƒ, section sign (§), Ø and per mill (‰).
An updated version of the typeface was released in 2010 by FontHaus, Bank Gothic Pro, that includes new punctuation glyphs and enhancement of small caps. The pro version consists of all weights in both a condensed and regular style.
The typeface has been used for opening credits in most popular tv series, such as Crisis, Terra Nova, The Event, NCIS, ER, Drake & Josh and The Event. Other usages are in Mac OS X installation, Das Keyboard, DeStorm Power lyrics, television news and movies.
